Lakers/Heat 2020 Finals

Finally here we are.

The Miami Heat are once again in the NBA Finals. This will be the sixth time in the last fourteen years but for the first time in franchise history they are without Dwayne Wade. The Los Angeles Lakers are no stranger to the NBA Finals either making their league high thirty-second appearance, and for LeBron James this will be his tenth appearance. To put that into perspective LeBron James has now made more NBA Finals than all but three franchises! Not to mention that besides the Lakers/Celtics who have combined for a whopping fifty-three appearances, the only other franchise that LeBron does not have more appearances than are the Golden State Warriors who have eleven. Sometimes people are a poisoner of the moment, but for me I will enjoy greatness while it's around. In the last decade LeBron James has made the NBA Finals nine out of those ten years, with the exception of last year when he got injured down the stretch. LeBron James has now made the finals with three different franchises, five different head coaches, both in the eastern and western conference, and with seventy-four different teammates. The common denominator between him and all the others is simply his greatness. One game in and the writing is already on the wall for what's in store for Miami. Anthony Davis and LeBron James combine for 59 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-98 win over the Miami Heat in Game 1. The Lakers' simply dominated Miami in almost every fashion even after starting the game off sluggish.

Before the playoffs began I stated I believed LeBron James would capture his fourth title this year, along with stating his opponent would more than likely be the Miami Heat, but one game in and is anyone surprised? To me the result of this NBA Finals is inevitable and the only real question is who will win the Finals MVP. Will it be Anthony Davis' onslaught of offense or LeBron James' all around performance? Time will tell. Lakers in 5!
